Year Of The Pig (2007-02-18)
I'm taking a break from all the Hong Kong posts to wish everybody a happy Chinese New Year since it's Chinese New Year today or The Year Of The Pig. But in Japan where New Year is not celebrated according to the lunar calendar, Japanese people already honored the change of the zodiac sign from last year's dog to the pig on Jan 1st.Here the tusks-protruding Boar is generally depicted in this
astrological
sign instead of the common Pig. Whenever there's a chance to
capitalize
any event for a profit, you can be sure we'll see it on the market
here. Therefore, as no surprise, many shops were selling boar
ornaments and food that resembles the boar etc in January.
Oh, Gung Hey Fat Choy or Happy New Year to those who care.
