Toy Catcher Store (2005-08-15)
I am surprised to see that a toy catcher machines store in Ueno (
) is still in business after all these years. That store
has nothing but machines in which people insert 100 yen (a buck) for
three chances to catch a soft toy. The toys are always too big
and heavy for the flimsy mechanical arms to grab. You can easily
be spending a whole lot more money "catching" a toy than if you would
simply
go to a toy store to buy a similar stuffed animal. And yet, the store has enough non-thinking customers to keep them in business. The world is an interesting place.
