Lunch At Akasakarikyu (2009-04-16)
Unlike the day we were rushing to board our flight to Osaka, this time we had plenty of time to eat the much anticipated meal at very famous Akasakarikyu. Their executive chef was trained in Hong Kong and his restaurant in Akasaka is reputed to serve authentic Cantonese dishes. I wanted to try the one in Akasaka once, but too lazy to go there. Now that we're in Haneda, I couldn't waste this opportunity to have their dimsum. Both my Yumcha Set and KL's Chahan (fried rice) Set came
suspiciously fast, possibly 2 minutes after placing the order.
His rice was piping hot (did they reheat it in the microwave?) but my
dimsum was all lukewarm. None of them tasted authentic except
perhaps the deepfried prawn in wonton skin. It was very
disappointing indeed.
I've always known Chinese food in Tokyo sucks, but to be this bad
from such a famous restaurant touting "Hong Kong" style food, it is a
real letdown.
